shopping at cold storage with dad was hilarious. i love to see his kancheong spider expression whenever he enters a supermarket/hypermart. so he was given an instruction from the woman-in-charge aka the mummy to buy:
1) detergent
2) glade scented gel
3) dishwashing liquid
4) fruits
so, dad has no problems at the fruit section. cos that's where he usually hangs out whenever he goes groceries shopping with mum. haha. the first three items were located at the same section. when we got there, dad stared at the array of air fresheners. being dad, he didn't know which one mum wanted. he grabbed 3 different scents. when we came to the dishwashing liquid shelf, he quickly grabbed mama lemon. when asked, he said he saw the previous lady taking it too so he figured that it was a good brand. men.
here's the interesting part. mum called to remind that we musn't forget the detergent. she said, "ayah, jangan lupe beli sabon cuci mesen." translation: ayah, don't forget to buy soap for washing machine. well, she figured that her husband would be bright enough to comprehend her bad bad sentence structure. ok well the sentence sounds funnier when it's in malay tho. haha.
dad, being a smart alec, pointed up to something - WASHING MACHINE AGENT: Keeps Your Machine Sparkling Clean.
just in case you're wondering, we bought that machine agent AND detergent. it was a way to get at my mum i guess. they had a good laugh together. point is, it'll make me smile just by looking at them both, acting all chummy and giggly. haha. scary thought that my parents are behaving like teenagers madly in love. but hell, it made my day.
it gets funnier when these two saw a mat-minah pte ltd couple having a meal at causeway point banquet before the official time to break fast.
mum: eh eh, dah buke mat ni? (eh eh, this mat break fast already?)
dad: tu bukan mat, tu kan orang puteh. rambot dier kan blonde. (that's not a mat, that's a caucasian. his hair is blonde.)
in case you're wondering (again) if they said it in front of the mat-minah pte ltd couple, YES THEY DID. at that moment, i swear i acted like i didn't know my parents for fear that they'd recognise me and bring their mat-minah association to clobber me up or something.
