this is the CTG (Cardiotocograph) machine.

we use this everyday to monitor the fetal heart rate

and mother's contractions.

once in a blue moon, we'd get zilch heart beat

and that's a moment to panic.

fitriah's had that moment...

i'm sure she felt terrible.

although the baby's heart beat sounds irritatingly like

many horses galloping at a go,

we OBGYN nurses would very much like to hear it,

thank you very much.

introducing the IV Dextrose 5%.

couple it with IV Dextrose Saline and you'll

get a famous concoction of IV routine 4:2,

specially from the SGH OBGYN ward.

and when the superiors are not around,

this is what the night nurses do.

1. the masks they're supposed to use are no longer at their rightful places.

2. sitting on the trolley has become an every night routine.

3. playing choo-choo train in the middle of the night.

and whole lot of other rule-breaking moments.

ah yes, not forgetting baby shopping in the ward nursery.
