mummy instincts

i know i have always had a soft spot for babies BUT
not until the extent of having mummy instincts of late.
my goodness. it's just so hilarious come to think of it.

just yesterday when i was in the train going back,
there's this baby who just couldn't stop crying
despite everything the mum did.
oooh trust me she did ALOT of things from pulling funny faces
to shoving a pacifier into his mouth.
it was quite a pitiful sight actually.
and it didn't help that much that she stared at me
with such tired and worried eyes.
(i think the public just love to stare at nurses. for variety of reasons. THAT i shall touch on another day...)

so i just offered to carry the little boy for a bit while she took a breather and tidied up her hair.

i've read somewhere that one has to keep calm and put the baby close enough to hear your heartbeat to comfort him/her.
it worked like magic.
but that somewhere did mention that it was the mother-child bond.
I KNOW! it freaked me out but i felt accomplished in a sense though.
only God knows how crappy the mum must be feeling to see her baby so calm;
in another person's arms.
i would've felt terrible if i were in her shoes.

the question i have in mind right now is whether or not this is a good or bad thing.
any takers?
