no wonder that asia can never be one, united entity.
it's really horrible what people are saying about hady, personally attacking him based on the size of our country and obvious hatred incited by other issues unrelated to the singing talents of all the asian idol contestants.
i had no clue he had won (aside from screaming from the opposite block of flats at midnight, now that was scary. and ifa msging me- HADY WON!! now that was scary as well considering the fact that i was asleep at that hour.)
and i really think if it had been anyone, ANY of the other contestants, everyone would have been happy and excited. i mean, darn, we are supposed to be ASEAN and happy for one another. but i guess nationalistic pride won over many asians last week (has it been a week?) because they didn't expect Singapore to win.
for goodness sake, i don't get it. i can't imagine that political sentiments seeped its way into the competition, and putting contestants as scapegoats.
all over the web, blogs, forums and whatnots, is filled with criticisms of the asian idol. some even went as low as to criticize the voting system (claiming that because hady is a weak contestant, he mostly got second votes from m'sians (get this - because Singapore was a part of Malaysia before they separated in what? 1960s! like, DUH.) and Indonesia (because they were sympathetic since he has a Bugis background) and Philippines, because his voice coach was a Filipino. thing is, Babes Conde has been in Singapore since SBC time man!
it's amazing looking at what levels people can go to to express their unhappiness.
not only in the celebrity world but also right here in our lives, yes?
hectic day today. won't elaborate much on that.
just that i'm dying to crawl into bed right after i post up this entry.
goodnight world.
