smell that!

only God knows how i felt when i got on the train this morning. and only SMART people won't sit in between an old apek and nyonya who looked like as though they didn't bathe for 3 whole months. BUT! i wasn't majority smart ones simply cos i'm in need of a very much needed sleep and my legs were hurting like a mad cow's disease. ok, so i kid about that mad cow's disease part but you get what i mean.

i don't know whether it's just fate that my sense of smell is better today compared to any other days or it was pure bad ass move to sit in that place cos one smelt like fart and the other like a bread gone stale and sour. well, maybe worse. please try to put yourself in my shoes cos it's goddamn 6 in the morning and people dare to walk out of their house smelling like stinking socks. golly schmolly!

and there was i listening to my mp3, trying oh so hard not to bother about the stench. yes. by now i'd rather call it stench. it brings out the oomph of disgust.

at intervals of about 3 minutes (journey was from sembawang to dhoby ghaut by the way.), 2 different types of funky odour wafted (yes, i said wafted. and yes. funky odour.) to me. one was when the train was about to move - that funky fart odour. two was when the train was about to stop - that funky stale and sour bread odour. so what happened when the train was moving? A MIXTURE OF FUNKY ODOURS! the ventilation couldn't get any better for me. yay me. i almost gagged and wanted to puke out everything i had for sahur but i thought hey, i needed that milo for energy to get through the shift today.

dhoby ghaut station has the best ventilation, do you know that? well now you know!

ooh. my story doesn't end there. today i feel like typing a wee bit more. hoho.
my shift starts at eight but i'll somehow reach outram at seven. those who don't know me, i like to be early at work but when it comes to meeting up with friends, i'd be late. =)

okays. so i plodded alongside this nyp lecturer (no i don't know her) and me trying to be friendly i smiled and walked past her. in due seconds, she tapped me hard on the shoulder and started questioning me of all sorts.

lecturer: it's 7. you're supposed to be in the ward at 7. and you're here walking so slowly, not bothering about the time. you know nyp has set certain standards about punctuality...blah blah.
(nabei. she went on and on for about 2 mins or maybe more. about respecting nyp's strict guidelines for student nurses.)

me: maam, i start work at 8.

lecturer: it's a wednesday. tell me which ward you students are supposed to report to at 8 on a wednesday? (this part, she's really getting on my nerves)

me: *takes out badge showing her only the red tag which denotes final year students* i'm a year three student and i'm currently on OT posting. i start at eight and end at 4. now what else do you want to know?

lecturer: *looks at watch* well now it's 7.15. you have to change into your scrub suit and it needs time right? so why are you standing here? you're going to be late. like i said, nyp has set certain...................etc.

me: can i go now? i'm really going to be late.

lecturer: go. i'm not holding you back what.

i wished i would've said "maam, i'm sorry but i'm running late cos you decided to have a morning conversation with me about nyp's standards and still have the cheek to argue with me when you're supposed to be in the ward by 7. so by right or left or whichever way you want or prefer, YOU'RE LATE. not me."

DAMN. i was a pissed woman today that if anyone accidently stepped on my toes today i could've murdered that person. but noooo... saidah went happily to OT and got to scrub in for a case. together with a medical student whose ears are pierced one too many times, talks like an ah beng and calls me little girl. by the end of the day, i was a happy girl!

until i saw that lecturer at the mrt station. *!@#$%!%^^!!!!*
